My journey as a performer started out as a DJ in the clubs and bars of Newcastle in the mid 90s. It was here that I was given the moniker Curious. I had always been a writer and eventually moved in front of the turntables to grab the mic. After many years as an MC I discovered spoken word poetry through a friend I taught with in NW London.

I began to hit open mics and slams around 2010 and have since gone on to become a regular performer on the London poetry scene as well as travelling across the UK and to the USA to perform my poetry.

I have self-published two collections of poetry as well as a range of poetry postcards and artworks informed by my poetry and the work of other poets and rappers.

I regularly host events and as a keen freestyler I very much enjoy the spontaneity that hosting requires. I also co-host my own events under the name RISE UP.
